Sheep Herding

At Benjamin Farms we are available to offer training opportunities for those with dogs that have already been started on sheep and are looking for more training opportunities.

At this time we do not offer herding lessons. We do offer training time for individuals with dogs trained on sheep and either do not have access to stock or are looking to train at a new farm. We will continue to bring in clinicians to offer herding lessons and clinics.

Requirements for all handlers and dogs working with sheep on our property:

• Completed liability release waiver.

• Dogs must be at least 1 year of age unless prior arrangements have been made.

• All dogs must have already been started and exposed to sheep. No aggressive behavior toward our sheep will be tolerated.

• All dogs must be up to date on all vaccines recommended by your vet.

  • Minimum: Rabies and Distemper Combo Vaccine

• No aggressive dogs will be allowed on Benjamin Farms property.

• Handlers must take full responsibility for any accidents or injuries incurred to the property and livestock. All handlers agree to replace any harmed livestock at the value of $300 per sheep.

• All dogs must be under verbal and/or physical control by their handler.
