            Prerequisites:

  • Must have completed/passed a beginner-level obedience class OR have approval from the instructor.

  • Basic behaviors that each dog should understand go as follows: Sit and/or down, stay, and be able to focus while other dogs are out working greater than 50% of the time*.

  • 9 months old or older

  • *We understand these dogs are still learning and being able to focus perfectly may be too challenging. However, we ask that teams attending this class continue to work on this skill in and out of class. Dogs unable to focus when other dogs are working will not be able to progress past level 1 of foundations.

  • *Dogs showing any signs of aggression will not be allowed in class. If aggression and/ or severe reactivity are of concern for your dog, please reach out to the instructor to discuss the possibility of private lessons.

General Description: This class is recommended for dogs that have never done agility before but have aged out of the puppy agility program. We recommend this class for dogs 9 months and older. In this program, we will introduce the foundations for obstacle skills, handling skills, and sport foundation skills. This class is ideal for teams looking to try agility for the first time and/or looking to lay a solid foundation for competing. Please note that this class is best suited for teams that truly want to learn about dog agility and the training involved. This class is not suited for individuals who will not be able to pursue homework training assignments outside of class.

At the end of each session, your instructor will evaluate each team to help determine if they are ready to progress to the next level.
